KnownSingles was invented because many of our single friends expressed their concerns to us regarding online dating as well as issues they encountered while developing a relationship with a stranger they met online.

We decided to bring a proven matchmaking process which has been successful in Asia to the digital world in the form of KnownSingles.

How it works

Dating a stranger in today’s world can be a very scary and uncomfortable feeling. The thought of stranger danger often leaves some people less likely to look for serious relationships via online dating websites and apps because it is difficult to verify information about people before meeting them in person.

Paul and Annie are Members who are considered “KnownSingles” because they share the same MatchMaker Kim. Annie can ask Kim about Paul and verify information about him before going on a date. Paul can also verify information about Annie by asking Kim.

The journey to find the perfect partner starts with searching for MatchMakers you know who are already part of the KnownSingles community and establishing links to them or by inviting people you know to join the KnownSingles community as a MatchMaker so they can help you find your perfect partner. Keep in mind that MatchMaker accounts are 100% free and there is no limit to the number of MatchMakers you can invite to join KnownSingles.

The role of a MatchMaker has been taking place in Asia for centuries. Before we had the internet and the availability of online dating services and apps, there were people playing the role of a MatchMaker. The MatchMaker’s role is to be the mutual connection between two or more members so that any person connected to a MatchMaker can communicate with the MatchMaker to verify information about mutual connections. All members who share a connection to a mutual MatchMaker are “KnownSingles” because they are singles who are known to the MatchMaker. This means there is an additional layer of security in place that allows all KnownSingles to be able to verify information about other KnownSingles by simply contacting their mutual MatchMaker. For example, if Paul tells Annie he is an Engineer with a PhD from XYZ University and has never been married before, Annie can simply contact Kim and ask her if this is true. MatchMakers should not accept link requests from any member unless they actually know that person because others are relying on them to be able to verify information.

MatchMakers also have the ability to suggest one of their KnownSingles to another KnownSingle within the app which indicates they feel those two KnownSingles are compatible with each other based on information they know about the KnownSingles.

Jason is a Single member who is not connected to any MatchMakers. If Annie wanted to link to Jason, she can but there would not be any way for her to verify information about Jason since there is no mutual MatchMaker linked to both of them. This may be fine for some people but if you are a person who would like to verify information about someone you are about to date, then you should only be interacting with KnownSingles because you can ask your mutual MatchMaker questions about the other person.

About

While we were in lockdown and had a lot of time on our hands due to the Coronavirus pandemic, KnownSingles was created by a small team of software professionals in the United States and Sri Lanka. We took advantage of a terrible situation to create a dating and matchmaking app which we feel will provide many singles globally with a very comfortable means to meet their lifelong partners.

The KnownSingles platform will launch in 2024 and will be available via an app on the Apple Store and Google Play Store.
